What are often the first things to go when you tackle a decluttering project?
Promotional items! Specifically promotional items that don’t serve a purpose to the owner. Piles of clutter always seem to include mugs, can cozies, water bottles, etc. That’s not to say they don’t serve a purpose for anybody, but if you know you don’t need it or won’t immediately use it, don’t pick it up. It’s easy to attend fairs and trade shows and fill a bag of items. However, they quickly fill drawers and closets and become clutter.
Goodwill and other thrift stores are piled high with items people cast off as clutter, some of which is branded as promotional items.
