What are some stumbling blocks people encounter with keeping things clean/organized once a system is in place?
We are creatures of habit. Life gets busy, and we resort back to old behaviors. A good rule to help with this stumbling block is “one thing in, one thing out”. If you buy a new pair of jeans, donate the old one. When get a new book for book club, pass last month’s on to someone else. Another helpful hint is that if something takes a minute or less to do, just do it right then and there; pay the bill, read the mail and file, hang up the jacket, etc. Remember, it took years to accumulate excess clutter and get disorganized, and it can’t change overnight. Stay committed to learning new habits and making a permanent change. Just remember how good it feels to have a clean, organized home, and that less stuff is easier to maintain.
