With kids out playing, swimming, and biking this summer, there’s bound to be a skinned knee or elbow. Make your own ice packs.
Here’s how to do it:
Place 1-gallon plastic Ziploc bag inside another one. Then pour 3 cups of water and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol into the inner bag. Remove as much air as possible and seal the bags. Place flat in the freezer. After several hours the mixture will become slushy, but the alcohol will keep the water from freezing completely, and the bag will stay pliable and easy to position on the body. This is a very useful item to keep on hand.
