Fixtures dingy?

For chrome faucets try rubbing alcohol for a super shine.

Nasty stains in your toilet?

Try a pumice stone……. To remove toilet rings, flush and wet the sides and apply a paste of borax and lemon juice.  Let it sit for 2 hours and then scrub.

Is your electric can opener gross?

Loosen grime with a toothbrush and run a paper towel through the cutting assembly.  Then spray with non-stick vegetable oil to keep the buildup under control.

Does your blender have an odor?

Fill the container halfway with hot water and a couple drops of dish detergent with an ice cube.  Cover and blend.  Rinse and dry.

More for the dishwasher…

Dip a damp rag in baking soda to clean up any inside spots. For odors, sprinkle baking soda in the bottom and let it stand overnight.

Homemade Glass Cleaner

Mix in a spray bottle.  1 c. of rubbing alcohol, 1 c. water and 1 tbsp. of white vinegar.  This will make your windows sparkle.

Pitch your cleaners specifically made for every surface in your home and use this instead.

Mix together and pour into a spray bottle:  1/2 c. of white vinegar and 1/4 c. baking soda (or 2 teaspoons of borax) plus a 1/2 gallon of water.  Use for showers, chrome, windows, mirrors and other surfaces.

Homemade Dishwasher Soap

1/2 c. liquid soap (Dr. Bronner’s or whatever you have) 1/2 c. water 3 drops lemon essential oil 3 drops tea tree essential oil 1/4 c. white vinegar 1 tsp. salt Combine water and liquid soap.  Stir and then add lemon, tea tree and vinegar.  Stir until blended evenly and store in a squeeze bottle.  [...]
