Cream of whatever soup

2 c. powdered nonfat dry milk
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. [...]

Chopped Garlic vs. Fresh

Fresh garlic has a much more pungent and powerful flavor,  and if you use it weekly instead of prechopped, you will save some bucks.  Use a garlic press or sharp grater to mince.  To peel cloves, lay a knife blade flat on top and press down; the skin will slide off the clove.  You can [...]

Do you buy grated cheese or a hunk?

Grate your own and save about $ a pound.  There are preservatives in grated cheese to prevent the shreds from sticking together.  A food processor or box grater will help you make quick work of any chunk.  Do this once a week and just grab as you need it.

Instead of pre-washed and cut greens…

TRY a head of lettuce.  Bagged greens cost more than a head of lettuce you prep yourself.  Make this swap weekly for big annual savings……..

How do you plan weeknight meals?

1) Do you go through the refrigerator and see what you have?
2)  Do you choose what can be prepared quickly?
3)  Do you build menus around what’s nutritious and healthful?
4)  Do you plan a few days ahead?
5)  Or…….you don’t think about your evening meal until that day.
