I decided to try making some homemade hand sanitizer.  My purchased bottle was empty and I like to have several on hand because I keep one by the washing machine, one in the car, one in my purse, etc.  I also am speaking to a women’s group this evening with a little blurb on homemade cleaning supplies, so I thought it would be fun for them to try it out! 

Try it yourself:

1 c. aloe vera

1 tsp. rubbing alcohol

2 tso. glycerin

6 drops tea tree oil

4 drops lavender essential oil

Mix together and add to squeeze bottle.  No need to use water when sanitizing hands with this solution.

2 Tbsp. White vinegar

1 Tbsp. borax

1/8 c. Dawn

1 c. hot water

Mix vinegar, borax, hot water and then fill with cool water.  Add Dawn.  Put into a spray bottle.

6 c. hot water

3 c. white vinegar

2 c. hair conditioner

Mix water and conditioner and then add vinegar.  Mixes well in a gallon milk jug.

Ants:  Ant invasions can be deterred by washing countertops, cabinets and floors with distilled water.

Grease:  Filmy dirt and greasy residue can be removed from stove and refrigerator by wiping with vinegar.

Grass or Weeds:  Kill unwanted grass on sidewalks and driveways by pouring on vinegar.

Chrome:  To polish chrome and stainless steel, moisten a cloth with white vinegar and wipe clean.

Shower Curtain:  Rub a cloth dampened with vinegar to remove soapy, steamed-in film and mildew from your plastic shower curtain.  Or, remove it and wash it with wash machine adding a little vinegar.

Coffee Maker:  To remove stale coffee residue, fill the reservoir with vinegar and run it through a brewing cycle.  When finished, run 2 cycles of water through it.  I do this once a month with my coffee pot.
