Doing “DC on a budget”-The US Capital and the White House
Posted in Family, Saving on the Road on 22. Mar, 2011
These were two attractions that we certainly wanted to see while in DC. I made a request via e-mail to our Congressman, Collin C. Peterson 6 months before our planned visit. His communication assistant, who was from Marshall, Minnesota, was very helpful. He arranged a personal tour with us through the Capital and Collin Peterson’s office. It was fun to see his office with all the MN items………..a Schwan’s truck (Marshall, MN), a coffee mug from Glen Oaks Nursing Home(New London, MN), as well as a McLeod County 4-H livestock auction photo!
Security was tight….you were searched and only certain items were allowed, but a definite “see” if you make a trip to DC!
Here is a photo I shot from the top of the Washington Monument as the helicopter landed on the lawn of the White House.
