Doing “DC on a Budget”

Another attraction that was “free” is the National Postal Museum, which is the Smithsonian’s stamp collection. It is located on Capitol Hill, next to Union Station.   It consists of 11 million stamps as well as horse drawn mail coaches, railway mail cars and three early mail-carrying airplanes.  It also houses the container used to mail the Hope Diamond to the National Museum of Natural History.
