Homemade Dry Onion Soup Mix

This is a great substitute for the boxed onion soup mix. You can add garlic powder or any other seasoning that you wish.
2/3 c. beef bouillon granules
1 1/3 c. dried onion flakes
8 tsp. onion powder
2 tsp. seasoned pepper/salt
Keep tightly sealed and this will stay fresh for 6 months. This recipes makes 8 packets.
The generic packet of dry onion soup mix in the store is 99 cents a package which would be close to $8.00 for 8 packets. This recipe costs me $2.69. I bought the beef boullion granules and had everything else at home. Make this ahead of time and then you always have a packet of onion soup mix on hand.

What would the measurement be for 1 packet?
That recipe makes 8 packets. I have never divided it up, but I am guessing approximately 2-2 1/2 tsp.
Thanks for that, and for any readers that are having difficulty chopping onions without the tears, here’s an incredibly easy tip – put them in the fridge first, then chop them straight away after taking them out! No more tears! I found some more onion soup recipes here if anyone wants to try some more recipes.
