Interested in starting a once a month cooking club?

By Cindy · Monday, June 30th, 2008

Get some friends together, find a place with a large kitchen (church basement works great) gather some recipes and have a good time!

You will want to delegate one person in your group to be the “chief cook” that month.  They will decide on the recipes, multiple all ingredients by the number of people cooking, shop and deliver the food to the kitchen.

At the time of cooking, each person will take a recipe.  EX:  Tator Tot Hotdish (a great MN recipe) If 8 people are cooking, you should have 8 pans in front of you as you are working.

If you have further questions or comments, please contact me.  We are happy to help you get a group going and have a book full of recipes!!

My friends and I would love to start a once a month cooking club but have no idea how to start? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jen

I think what you are doing is wonderful. My friends and I would enjoy having a cooking club. How can we get some of your recipes to help us get started? Also, how do you know how much extra cooking time to add to a dish that’s frozen instead of being cooked right after being prepared? Thank you for your terrific idea and your help. LeaAnn

I want to know more! We feed 7 each meal. This would be ideal!

I’d love recipes! I am a single work at home mom on a budget and it’s hard to make meals. I need some things that freeze well that I can whip together on my day off for the week! Help!

This is a great way to have a night out with the girl’s and not feel guilty about it and get something done. How do we get started.
Where can I get a blueprint on how to organize this.
Thank you Terry

I’ve read Once a Month Cooking and now I saw this on the news last night. I’d really like to get a club started because it would be more fun to have company while I cook and also to share ideas. I’d love to get some of the recipes that were shown on the news last night along with helpful tips. Thanks.

Would you be willing to share some recipies to get up started. The ladies I work with would love to do this. Great idea!!

I have a group of people that would love to get this going in our town. I would love some recipes to get us started!

Thanks for such a GREAT idea!

I was wondering if you could share some recipes so I could get a club started with my girlfriends. I would love to get the recipes from the kare 11 segment, or any others that would be good starters.Thank You for the great idea!

I would love to do this.Maybe join someone group?

Where do you find your recipes that freeze well?

I would love to start a cooking club with my friends. Can you give me information on how you started, what works well and maybe some recipes? What a fabulous way to spend time with friends and save time and money at home too!

This is a great idea! I am more excited after I read the blog from the lady that is also an empty nester and shares her meals. I could share them with my parents who live nearby.

Please send me some info on how to start a club and some recipes.

Thank you

I too would love to get something like this started. I’m hoping you would be willing to share some recipes to get started.

Hi,

A gorup of co-workers and I were talking about your idea and would love to start our own group. Any info you can give us to get started would be appreciated. Thanks for saving us time and we love the socialization part too.

I LOVE this idea… would love to get it going in my small town (Olivia, MN)…. do you have any starter tips to provide?

So, let me get this straight. Each person brings one recipe, and makes 8-6 serving entrees? Do they cook them completely? Or freeze them uncooked?

No, the Chief Chef brings the recipes and each person makes 8 pans of lasagna for example, if there are eight cooking.

Happened to find this article while researching the “cooking club” idea. I’m fascinated & live in West Michigan. I’d be very interested in obtaining some of your “whole book of recipes” and attempting to start a group here in this area.

Thanks so much for your help!

How would i go about getting recipes? Thanks!!! Janet

Where can we find the answers to all these questions?

I am curious, too… where can we find the answers to all these questions? I would love some of the recipes! Anything I can make in advance and later take for lunches or have as a meal would be a huge help! Thank you!
